Julius Rivera has over 30 years of drumming experience and more than a decade of facilitating drumming groups. Rivera is a self-taught drummer introduced to drumming by his father, Mickey Rivera.

After being trained by Peter Marino, Rivera started facilitating drumming groups (onehourdrummer.com). Since Mr. Marino’s training, Rivera has facilitated groups with countless groups throughout the Philadelphia region, including children with disabilities.

As a special education teacher in the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center School, Rivera continues to work to empower vulnerable children in the city. He hopes that Story Drumming will become a regular part of classroom instruction and programming at recreational facilities throughout the city.
